Arctic Monkeys and Advice
Greetings, fashion enthusiasts and trendsetters! If you're here, it's likely because you're passionate about style, just like me. I've embraced the role of the certified "fashion major friend" in my circle, always eager to help my friends, roommates, and family up their fashion game. Through years of experience, I've honed my skills in planning outfits, staying on top of trends, and managing a college wardrobe that's bursting at the seams. In this blog, I'll share some of my insights and anecdotes, from getting ready for concerts to flea market adventures, and even a bit of fashion wisdom I've picked up in my classes.
1. Concert Couture:
Let's kick things off with an unforgettable concert experience. Preparing for a concert is a thrill in itself, as the energy and atmosphere of a live show call for a special kind of style. One of my most memorable concert prep moments involved helping my friend get ready for the Arctic Monkeys. We knew comfort and style were equally crucial, so we threw together a layered masterpiece, added some chunky heels and remembered the 90 degree weather, and were ready to be front row having the time of our lives.
Remember, it's all about choosing the right attire that reflects the music genre, venue, and, most importantly, your personal style. Whether you're hitting a rock concert, EDM festival, or a classical performance, make sure your outfit is an expression of who you are (who knows who will see you in the crowd!)
2. Thrift Store Treasures:
Thrifting is an art form, and I consider myself quite the aficionado. I've spent countless hours browsing the racks and shelves of thrift stores with friends, helping them uncover hidden gems. One particular day, my roommate and I were set on finding some vintage nightwear for an upcoming fashion shoot. Luckiliy enough, the Nashville flea market presented me with the perfect pink dress reminiscent of Hermione's Yule Ball dress (for all the Harry Potter nerds), and I took a chance and bought it praying it would fit me. I got home and slipped it on for the moment of truth and... it fit like a glove and has been my most prized thrift find to date.
Thrifting is not just about saving money but also about contributing to sustainable fashion. You can find unique items that no one else has, and it's an adventure in itself. Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to experiment with styles you wouldn't typically consider.
3. Lessons from the Classroom:
As a fashion major, I've delved deep into the world of fashion theory and history. I am constantly in dicsussions with professors and classmates on the state of the industry, emerging trends, and the best up and coming designers to look out for. This gives me more information than a normal consumer would be able to understand from what they see on pinterest. Through my instruction I am now able to understand trend cylces and give out my advice to best ensure that my friends pick pieces that are timeless and classic to avoid the hype of fast fashion and micro-trends.
And here I find myself in my junior year of college, forever grateful for the choices I made in high school that led me to the wonderful experiences at Belmont. Those experiences have brought me to unforgettable moments, like finding myself in the front row of an Arctic Monkeys concert, surrounded by my stylish best friends.
